GIRL ON THE EDGE OF LIFE

Through the glass
People are eating.
She will pass
With no greeting.
People hurrying
To theatres and trains.
To a girl on the edge of life
It always rains.

A teenage vagrant;
She walks and walks.
No one speaks to her.
She never talks.
On the edge of life
The pavement is rising.
Dizzy with hunger.
Everyone despising.

Worn downs shoes.
Torn jeans.
Girl on the edge of life
In her teens.
This girl on the edge
of life has faith,
That God will save her
And keep her safe.
This homeless girl
Then discovers
That life will embrace her
At one with others.

With her ordeal ended
She’ll be fine.
And when befriended
She will shine.
The edge of life
Will disappear
She’ll be a part of it all.
With nothing to fear.
