ESTRANGED

She won’t wait for you again
Now the distance is so great.
There has been time for the pain
To evaporate?

Your photographs and number,
Your address,
She destroyed
Long ago in distress,
When you were so annoyed.
She won’t wait for you again.

Six years have passed
Since you were in touch.
If her memory is cast
Back. She wonders if
you ever cared much.
She won’t wait for you

Imagining a visit or a call,
It’s over, accepted,
Yet she sits weeping
in the hall.
