FOR PAST TIMES

She tries to look forward
And knows this is right
To imagine the future
Is rosy and bright.
But sleepless, her thoughts
Drift back to the past;
The people she loved
Whose lives didn’t last.

The people she loved
Who will not come again,
Dwell in her mind
Etched real and plain.
Submerged in deep sorrow?
But this is no good.
She will not forget them
Even if she could!

No! She will hug their
memories in true belief
That recalling the good times
Will conquer grief.
And pray that her loved ones
beyond somewhere,
Will know that she also
Still does deeply care.
