OUT OF OUR HANDS

Nothing so obvious.
Nothing so plain.
I won’t emphasise the cause
of my pain.

But I can’t keep
Silent
Because you’re mistified.
I’ll tell my sisters
The reasons I cried.

It was fear
That froze my being
And despair that stopped
Me from seeing,

All the destruction
Cascading around
Cancelling the freedom
We thought we had found.

And wondering
If it would help to pray
That these bloody wars
Would just go away!
