HOMECOMING

I remember the sunlight on your coat
And the way the sunbeams seemed to float
In golden light across the floor,
Slanting through the open door.

I remember the moment you arrived
From dangers in the street survived,
With shoulders broad and silver hair
In answer to my earnest prayer.

I remember reaching up to kiss
Your handsome face, in radiant bliss.
it seemed our love filled all the earth
And London’s traffic roared with mirth.

I remember hearing the freedom of birds
Singing in tune with our loving words
Far away as they sang and twirled.
Our happiness blazed across the world!.
