A BRIGHT HELLO

What a surprise to gladden
the eyes,
Despite all the dust and the grime.
Standing erect, yellow, perfect,
the Daffodils welcome Springtime.

Traffic fumes clog our lungs
and a dog shows not the care
we would like.
Yet seeming to hope,
the daffodils cope with an
oncoming bike.

They make me smile, such
precision and style, such
aptness and right to be here.
How my soul thrills when
the first Daffodils,
suddenly appear!
